Cinnamon-Colored Black Bear - (04/29/24) - This was an unforgettable moment during a hike at the Angelo coast range reserve, untouched by human disturbance since the 1930s, and a crucial site for environmental studies. I was blown away by the splendor of the forest interlaced with meadows and rivers. I went with an extraordinary friend of mine, where we found a cinnamon-colored black bear just across the creek from the path we walked on. We froze briefly thinking that a mythical grizzly bear had solemnly returned to California. However, from the snout and size, it was indeed a black bear. The bear was unbothered from our gawking and whispering strolling lazily across the creek bank until making its way back into the trees. As we hiked further we found a myriad of trail cams and trip wires, possibly to catch a glimpse of this superstar bear.
